Hong Kong Hiking
MacLehose Trail Section Two and Po Pin Chau

Mar-2026 MacLehose Trail, Hong Kong
This hike followed the second section of the MacLehose Trail and the nearby Po Pin Chau area. Compared with many urban walks in Hong Kong, this part felt much more open and coastal. The trail moved between ridgelines, beaches, reservoirs, and sea cliffs, so the scenery kept changing without feeling rushed. The combination of mountain paths and ocean views made the route one of the most memorable short escapes from the city.
Po Pin Chau was the strongest visual point of the day. The broken sea stack, the cliff lines, and the sharp edge between rock and water gave the landscape a very different character from the usual skyline of Hong Kong. Walking around this area made Hong Kong feel larger and wilder than it first appears. The trail was not only about reaching a viewpoint; it was also about the gradual shift from green hills to open sea, and from city rhythm to a quieter coastal landscape.
