Hangzhou Weekend
A Leisure Weekend in Hangzhou

Dec-2025 West Lake, Hangzhou
The third week of December was a slower weekend in Hangzhou, centered mostly around West Lake and the nearby mountains. Compared with a trip built around a tight schedule, this one felt more like walking, stopping, and letting the city unfold at a comfortable pace. West Lake still had its soft winter atmosphere: pale water, low hills, old pavilions, and a kind of quiet that made the weekend feel easy to remember.
Dec-2025 Lingyin Temple and Yongfu Temple
Lingyin Temple and Yongfu Temple were the most peaceful parts of the trip. The temple architecture, incense, stone paths, and trees made the area feel calm without being empty. Even in winter, the mountains around Lingyin carried a lot of texture, and the temple courtyards worked especially well with the remaining seasonal colors.
Dec-2025 Shili Langdang
Shili Langdang added a different side of Hangzhou. The trail moved away from the lake and into tea fields, small villages, and rolling hills. It was not a difficult walk, but it gave the weekend a stronger sense of landscape. Looking back over the tea terraces and layered hills, Hangzhou felt less like only a lake city and more like a place where water, temples, and mountains are closely connected.
Dec-2025 The End of Maple Season
This was already near the end of the red leaf season, but some of the colors were still beautiful. The late maples around the temple gates made the old buildings feel warmer and more vivid. It was a relaxed weekend rather than a packed sightseeing trip, and that was probably why Hangzhou left such a good impression: quiet, scenic, and still very beautiful at the edge of winter.
